Evidence-Based Medicine

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) - formerly known as "Agency for Health Care Policy and Research". The AHRQ sponsors and conducts research that provides evidence-based information on health care outcomes, quality, cost, utilization, and access. Its website provides an excellent overview on new scientific data and currently ongoing projects in the field of health services research.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - one of the major operating components of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, founded in 1946 to help control malaria. CDC applies research and scientific findings with the public health objectives of preventing and controlling infectious and chronic diseases, injuries, workplace hazards, disabilities, and environmental health threats.

The Cochrane Collaboration is an international non-profit organization, providing current systematic reviews of and information about the effects of health care. The Cochrane Library contains continuously updated evidence-based health care databases.

European Medicines Agency (EMEA) - the European institution regulating market access of innovative medicines, generic and non-prescription medicines through a single European authorization process; also responsible for controlling the safety of medicines for humans and animals.

Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD), established in England in 1994, aims to provide research-based information about the effects of interventions used in health and social care.

German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information (Deutsches Institut für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information, DIMDI), with the mission to provide access to information on medicine and related fields, to implement and operate database-supported information systems on drugs and medical devices, and to publish official classification.
